Role Overview
As an Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory regulations, and supporting the financial health of the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with expertise in German accounting standards (HGB) and a proactive approach to process optimization.
Your Tasks
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
    • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with HGB.
    • Responsible for the complete and proper bookkeeping of the company, including IC account reconciliation and fixed asset accounting.
  • Compliance and Taxation
    • Oversee compliance with all relevant tax regulations, including VAT and corporate tax filings.
    • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
    • Handle VAT pre-registrations and ZM reports.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Provide variance analysis and insights to support management decision-making.
  • Process Improvement and Systems Management:
    • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize accounting processes and systems.
    • Ensure the effective use of financial software and tools to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Manage, improve, and implement accounting software solutions for the company, such as NetSuite.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
    • Assist in internal audits and contribute to risk management efforts.
    • Collaborate with external collection agencies for overdue customer accounts and ensure timely payments through dunning procedures.
Your Profile
  • Certified Bilanzbuchhalter or equivalent qualification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on HGB compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial accounting software and tools (NetSuite explicitly, additional systems include DATEV, SAP or similar).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English is mandatory.
